As Talysn turned a corner and walked under an arch, a voice on the opposite side called out in perfect elven, "You're a hard one to find, Talysn."
The voice belonged to an elf who was leaning up against the wall. Their lithe frame was dressed in a suit of blue-tinted leaf-patterned plate mail. The edges of the armor shifted from deep lavender to flamboyant pink in the light, a common effect of orichalcum metal coming into contact with sunlight. Patterned into the breast plate was a unicorn relief where the creature was in the shape of a crescent moon. Taken all together, the armor felt like one was looking out through an opening in a forest canopy to the moon in the night sky.
The elf's pale, almost metallic silver face, was painted with an ornate series of overlapping flowing lines in emerald paint - a sign to Talysn that he was not only a more "pure" elf, but one who served The Emerald Queen.
Finally, the knight spoke again, "I've been told by my betters to come fetch you. For someone so flamboyant, I thought you'd be easier to spot until now." There was an almost condescending smirk on the elven warrior's face.

Talysn could feel the muscles of his face pull his ears back at the shock of seeing another of his kin this deep in Vynne. As the novelty faded, he relaxed once again as a genuine smile crept through his dour mood. He responded in kind in the elven tongue, elated to even speak it for the first time in what seemed like an eternity.
"A lone wolf often finds it necessary to hide amongst the thickets when the safety of the pack is no longer present! Trust me, dear brother, spend as much time as I have in this sorry place and you'll understand. But enough of my musings. Please, join me in a drink and tell me what news you bring with you from our beloved home!"

The knight errant seemed to enjoy his kindred's enthusiasm, "I would if I could, brother. But maybe later. For now, I am to take you to see my lady. She awaits just this way, if you would."
With a gentile motion, the knight escorted Talysn down an alley and around the bend to a small door set in a wall. With a rhythmic knock and musical password, the door swung on silent hinges and the knight motioned for Talysn to cross the boundary.
The courtyard beyond was like stepping back onto a Sol'Dana street. Hexagonal cuts of rose quartz hued stones formed pathways through the vibrant green gardens, which were in turn lined with the purest white loose rocks. Instead of the ugly, ramshackle architecture of Vynne, Talysn found himself surrounded by the elegant flow lines which mark elven buildings as their own. Flying buttresses and slender pillars supported the main building, as well as a wide awning of a translucent material which, despite being almost see-through, blocked out the harshest rays.
Beneath the awning, sitting at a pure white wooden table and reading a book, was an elegant, sharp-featured elven woman in flowing white and gold robes. The faintest lining of green told her allegiance to the current Queen. Brushing her blonde braided hair back, the woman smiled as the knight approached her, whispered something in her ear, and took up a position behind her as sentinel.
Taking a moment to scrutinize the newcomer, she too spoke in the elven tongue, "Ah. You must be... Talysn, is it? Please, come." Setting the book down, the woman pointed to a chair just opposite herself.

Following through the portal, Talsyn stretched out his arms as he took in the sights of his peoples' city. Even before he traveled to Vynne, it was a rare occurrence that he left the wildwood to stroll through the proper elven districts. Still, it solidified his preference for the elegant architecture found here as opposed to the crudeness created by other races.
He kept a keen eye on his guide, even as he stepped aside so his matron could take control of the conversation and begin introductions.
"Indeed, I am Talsyn, answering your summons," he stated, performing an exaggerated bow before seating himself in the chair offered to him. "And may I ask who has gone through such efforts to seek me?"

A bemused smirk crossed the elven woman's face. While she was not old, her features were already beginning to tell a tale of experience. Time amongst the other races had worn her features, though they still carried some sharpness.
"My name isn't important." the maiden replied, "But since you've done the courtesy of giving me your name, I shall grant you to know mine. I'm Ministress Dennel; and I've been sent all the way from the Sanguine Court in Xael Aulaan." Her knowing eyes settled on Talysn. "Your friends and family there say you're one of the best trackers in the Fae Wilds, which I hope extends to this side of the world, as well, because we need your help in tracking and returning one of our own back to the fold."
With a gentle touch along the spine, the tome on the table cracked open and pages spun as though trapped in a breeze. At last the gilded pages settled and stopped on a relief image of a figure that looked like a figure of terror. Ragged, torn cloaks covered the figure and the armor beneath, with a plague doctor's mask shrouding the face.
"Their name is Lavander." Dennel explained. "They're a priest of our most sacred faith, but has been battered, bruised and abused by the people here for too long. We need you to find her and bring her home."

Talysn leaned forward in his chair, getting as good a look as he could at the image.
"Hmm...certainly a bit theatrical, isn't it? There's no shortage of oddities found on Vynne's streets, but this Lavander should stick out well enough. Of course the biggest question to ask is, will they come willingly, or will subterfuge be needed? Are they to be aware you wish them to return here, or have they been running from you?"
He leaned back in his chair, hands folded as he searches for any reactions from his potential employer. (4 on Insight check)

Dennel looked a shade annoyed by the line of questioning, but not surprised by it. It was as though she wanted to avoid having any more discussion than was necessary.
"Not running, so much as shirking duty." Dennel explained. "They're a priest of the Fates, yet choose to spend all their time with blasphemers and heretics. A lifetime among the people of this world has been cruel to them - left them, on more than one occasion, broken and discarded like a child's toy." There was a touch of sympathy in her tone, "They've had a harsh life, and the Fates have done all they can to push them in the right direction. But now, we must give them a more direct nudge in the way of home."
Fixing her cloak, Dennel added, "How you bring them back is up to you, but we want no harm done to them. If you think they'll listen to reason, by all means do so. If you must take more... extreme methods, we sanction that as well. The method doesn't concern us so long as they are brought back here so we may guide them home."
In an effort to quash all further questions, Dennel put one more nail into the conversation, "Do this, and we will grant you whatever boon is in our power to give."

Talsyn decided he had pushed his questions about as far as he could. While he had spent most of his life away from the politics of the court, even he knew it was best to draw the anger of an emissary of the queen. His instincts told him there was far more to the story, but answers would come in time. For now, knowing he would have an opportunity to further the elven cause was all that was necessary to make his decision.
"Very well then, I believe that should be enough for me to get started. I thank you for your time, and swear I will do everything in my power to bring this lost cub back to the pack."
Rising from his seat, he performed another ingratiating bow before his new-found employer before turning his gaze back to the stalwart soldier that had guided him here.
"If this concludes our meeting, I do in fact have an engagement to attend soon. I shall follow your lead back to the portal from whence we came."
As they returned back to the doorway, Talsyn stopped in his tracks and brought a hand up.
"Ah, before I forgot, a quick request dear brother. May I have the password for this portal? It may be in everyone's best interest if I can return here when needed. I can check in with updates, purchase supplies for the mission, etc. And of course, once the quarry is in hand a quick jaunt through a pathway I'm already familiar with will be most beneficial."

"Of course." Dennel replied with the practiced kindness and professionalism of her station. When Talysn finished with his departing flourish, Dennel snapped her fingers and the knight from before stepped forward and placed a small, heavy satchel in the patriot's hand. "Consider that an early fee for taking on this job. And do not worry about contacting us: we will find you." Leaning back, Dennel took up her tea cup and drained a long sip. All the while her eyes never left Talysn. :And, uh, a Happy Deliverance Day to you."
The knight shook his head as they walked, "I'm sorry, friend. For reasons of security I'm afraid I can't give the password out to just anyone who asks, even if they are employed by my betters." As they closed in on the door and the single guard at her post, the knight added, "In the satchel we gave you is the location of a dead drop. If you have need of the things you mentioned, simply put them in a note and leave them at the dead drop. We'll provide what you need - within reason, of course." He paused to issue a brief nod to the guard, who now worked on undoing the bolts on the door. Turning back to Talysn, he finished his thought, "I'm sure someone as resourceful as you can work things out."
Before he knew it, Talysn was outside of the embassy walls once again, and on the filthy streets of Vynne. The wall behind him was free of any cracks or indents that would indicate where the door was hidden.
