Cyrus sighed and stood next to the door, his huge weapon at the ready to swing when something tried to come through. He muttered to the crew member, "Hide."
Once Korruk had a chance to ready himself similarly, he shouted, "Lav! Company on the deck!"
Would it attract the chuul? For sure.
Was that a problem? Nope.

Lavandul cocked their head as they appeared, angling towards the noise,
"They appear to just harass the chest before getting bored and wandering off to hunt. The sailors died going out to look for food and water. Why not just punt the chest outside for the storm and be done with it?"
The Chuul had had two to three weeks to drag off the chest and hadn't. The men hadn't been hunted within the ship and simply attracted them after hitting their nest. This didn't seem like an encounter that needed to happen. The Winter in the eladrin spoke sense in not exhausting themselves further when a storm was coming.

The Knight growled, and quickly found himself in a stance that made him battle ready, and found a position beside the Red Saint. They had proven a formidable duo so far, and there was no reason to stray from what had worked. With commands issued.

"To the Mariner with that, la-lad." the old sea dog spat as he scooped up his crossbow and cocked the bolt back into action. "I'm done hiding." A sudden change came over Alvar as he stood behind the barricade, ready to make his own move. The clicking and heavy footfalls around them drew closer. One could be heard scuttling along the deck. Two more could be heard above. The clicking fell silent as another sound joined in - heavy, wet footfalls that slapped against the wood. From the open door leading out onto the deck, the trio could see a fish creature in armor made of thick seaweed, multicolored shells, and coral step towards the portal. Cold, black eyes blinked once and a mouth full of thin, sharp needles opened to form a mimicry of humanoid speech. "Lllllllllllaaaaand Kiiiin." the creature gurgled, "Giiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive uuuuussssssssssssssssss theeeeeeeee keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey aaaaaaaaand youuuuuuuuuuu wiiiiiiiiiiiill leeeeeeeeeeeeave freeeeeeeeeeeee."

The knight clapped his wrists together
“No chain binds me, and that shall not be changing this day. We represent the rightful owner of this ship and its goods, thus making us their protectors. It would be best for both of us that we were granted save passage with what is ours and we can leave this all behind.”
They take the man, and the goods, and they call it a day - Trying to make Korruk and his comrades not free, though? That would go poorly.

Cyrus spat on the ground, not leaving his position of cover. Doorways were handy like that. He glanced out and saw the creature, pulling from his memory banks to try to remember what he could about that species.
"Oy. You ever heard of the Red Saint?"
He peered at the mer-man and flashed him a grin.
"If we had the key, we'd already be gone with the goods, but we don't. So. Can't give you it. What the fuck is in the box that's worth us fighting over?"
